Georgia pet retailer TailsSpin helped raise $44,000 to benefit the Blue Buffalo Pet Cancer Research Foundation in the inaugural Woof Woof 5K Run/Walk over Pet Cancer, which was held Nov. 2 in Savannah, Ga.

The retailer organized the event along with Fleet Feet Sports and Southeast Veterinary Oncology. The event was sponsored by Blue Buffalo.

"The is was such a great event, bringing awareness to the issue of pet cancer and memorializing our pets," said Jeff Manley, co-owner of TailsSpin, which has three stores in the Savannah area.

Savannah's Hope Chest Foundation, Savannah Area Pet Rescue Agencies and Jacob G. Smith Elementary School also benefited from the event.

The Woof Woof 5K Run/Walk over Pet Cancer featured a free pet portrait photo booth, door prizes, a memorial and celebration of pets, music, food, and free giveaways from Blue Buffalo pet food, Bayer Animal Health and Savannah's Oliver Bentley's Pet Treats.
