Bayer Debuts Flea Collar
March 29, 2013

Bayer HealthCare Animal Health Division has debuted Seresto, an eight-month tick and flea prevention collar.

Seresto features sustained-release technology that continually releases small amounts of the active ingredients—imidacloprid and flumethrin—from the collar to the hair and skin of the animal. According to the company, the collar kills fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours after initial application.

“With Seresto, we give consumers a new alternative to spot-on topical flea and tick, and oral flea prevention,” said Ian Spinks, president and general manager.

The design includes a ratchet-release, and on small dog and cat collars, a pre-determined breaking point, allowing for a quick release in the event that a cat or dog is trapped.

The collar is available for cats, small dogs up to 18 lbs. and large dogs over 18 lbs. Optional night-safety reflectors are also available.
