5 Squee-Worthy Videos in Honor of National Puppy Day

I’ll never forget the moment I met I my first childhood dog. For weeks, my mother subtlety dropped hints that a puppy was on the horizon but denied any plans to welcome one into our family anytime I grew suspicious. On the day my mother brought home our Golden Retriever, Shelby, I found the box to her crate hidden in the garage and my suspicions were vindicated. When my mother pulled in the driveway after “running errands,” there, sleeping in her lap, was Shelby. My heart jumped out of my eight-year-old chest. We were instant pals, and that bond carried us through the milestones of growing older together.

It's moments like those that National Puppy Day (March 23) is designed to commemorate. While National Puppy Day celebrates the unconditional love puppies bring to humans’ lives, it is also a part of founder Colleen Paige’s Animal Miracle Foundation & Network, a non-profit organization which offers financial assistance and educational programs for issues ranging from pet cancer to fire safety and travel safety for children and pets alike.

So, in honor of Shelby—who died of cancer 10 years ago—and National Puppy Day, here are five milestone moments of puppies bringing joy to the world.
