The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) has announced that baseball icon Tony La Russa will be speaking at the upcoming Pet Industry’s Top2Top Conference, which will be held April 23-26 in Napa, Calif.
With three World Series championships, six pennants and four manager-of-the-year awards under his belt, La Russa is widely considered one of the best managers in the history of Major League Baseball. In his address at the Top2Top Conference, he will reportedly discuss behind-the-scenes details and inspiring revelations about overcoming adversity and beating the odds to emerge a champion.
In addition to being a high-profile figure in professional baseball, Larussa has a strong connection to the pet industry. He and his wife, Elaine, co-founded the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) in Walnut Creek, Calif., where he is chairman of the board.
Elena Bicker, executive director of ARF, will introduce La Russa at the Top2Top Conference. Under her leadership, ARF secured a four-star rating (highest achievable) for five consecutive years on Charity Navigator, with 87 cents on the dollar dedicated to ARF’s programs, and recently celebrated 25,000 pets re-homed.
