NAPA, Calif.–The first-ever Pet Industry’s Top to Top Conference received rave reviews from attendees, with a wide majority reporting that the conference was a welcome addition to the pet industry’s events calendar and will help their businesses in the future.
“We are very pleased with the feedback we’ve received about the first Pet Industry’s Top to Top Conference,” says Mike Canning, president & CEO of the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC). “The survey results are in, and we’re pleased to announce that 85 percent of attendees said they found the conference worthwhile.”
Some highlights of the conference included:
• Opening remarks by Jim Heim, PIJAC chairman and president of Central Garden & Pet, which focused on the importance of a united industry to confront the 33 percent increase in pet legislation since the last legislative session.
• The State of the Industry and Town Hall Meeting, which featured speakers Robert Moran, chairman and CEO of PetSmart; Bob Shipley, president and CEO of Hartz Mountain Corporation; and Peter Weinstein, executive director for the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association.
• Changing Retail Channels, presented by Karen Lowe of IBM and Brad Weston of Petco, which highlighted retail trends and addressed the most important issues facing the industry.
