March 9, 2010
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—Zoo Med Laboratories, Inc., has purchased the company AQUATROL, a manufacturer of vacation food blocks, fish food flakes and various other tropical fish products. Doc Adams, who had previously owned Adam’s Tropical Fish, a large tropical fish store in Long Beach, Calif., started AQUATROL in the mid 1970s. According to the company, AQUATROL was first to produce a vacation food block (Banquet Blocks) and the first to produce a flake food containing Spirulina algae (Spirulina 20 Flakes). Zoo Med is now producing all the Banquet food blocks and AQUATROL line of flake food (including Spirulina 20).
